so what is it that I do at Tech?

Well, I just started my new position this past July so I'm still figuring out a lot as I go. But, primarily my position focuses on the development and implementation of the Sophomore Year Initiative at Tech. This initiative is designed to address some of the struggles students face in their second year at Tech related to major/career selection, building new relationships with faculty, staff and students, burn-out from their freshman year, and creating a sense of sophomore class community. I also work with GT 1000 supervising the Team Leader program.

what is the best advice you give your students?

Find out what your passionate about and what you want to do for a living first. Then figure out what major and extracurricular opportunities are going to help you get there.

favorite part of my job...

Working with students. The never stop impressing me with their passion for making Georgia Tech a better place for their peers.

i learned from students that..

They are capable of do amazing things. Sometimes they just need someone to believe in them or help them focus their energy.

favorite things at Tech...

The traditions! Whether it's the fight song, the Ramblin' Wreck, or RAT Caps they all make Georgia Tech great.

when I am not at Tech...

Spending time with my wife Heather, and dog Colbie. Right now most of that time goes to getting our new house ready for the arrival of our first baby in late January.

how would I describe GTAAN or what have I learned from GTAAN?

I've learned that there are a lot of people at GT that care about students and their success. Over the last two years, I've found GTAAN to be a place to reconnect with colleagues I don't get to work with on a daily basis and gain new insight and information on topics facing GT students.
